"Come Go with Me" "Pasado"

"Come Go with Me" was an R&B hit for Baltimore group, Pockets in 1978. It also made the Hot 100 chart.

Background

The song had a definite R&B feel, and featured horns and strings. The Earth Wind & Fire influence that was noted by Billboard would have come from its co-writer and producer Verdine White.[1]

Chart performance

Hot 100 chart

Released in October 1977, the song debuted in the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 92.[2][3][4] The song eventually peaked at No. 84.[5]

R&B chart

Being the lively song it was, it did much better on the R&B chart, and after 18 weeks, reached its peak at No. 17.[6][7]

Other

In Jet Magazine, the song was no 15 in the Soul Brothers Top 20 Singles list.[8]

Other versions

Remixes and re-edits

A remixed version of the song (Joey Negro Found A Place Mix) is featured on the album, Remixed With Love By Joey Negro, Vol. 2 by Joey Negro, which also features remixes of "I Love Music" by The O'Jays, "Love Ballad" by George Benson, and "Ride Like the Wind by Christopher Cross.[9] Prior to mix of "Come Go With Me" appearing on the album, Negro received the multi-track mix for the song but it contained a version by a completely different singer. One he considered inferior. Possibly this was an earlier version as it is with mixes that don't appear on the album. Eventually the multi-track tapes for the released version were located which made the inclusion of "Come Go With Me" possible.[10]

The song also appears on side 1 of Eli Escobar's Money Lotion #8 - Escobar Edits on Money Studies Records ms-046, which features Colonel Abrahams "Trapped", and Loleatta Holloway's "Catch Me On The Rebound" on the flip side.[11][12]

Covers

The Occasions featuring Tyrone Henry released a version of the song in 1996 on the Feetmove Music Entertainment label.[13]
