History
The station was opened on 1 May 1852 by the Waterford and Limerick Railway company and was then overtaken by the Great Southern & Western Railway in the early 1900s and later by CIE in the 1940s. Clonmel also had a line that joined the Dublin-Cork line outside Thurles which closed in 1967. In November 2016 it was announced the station could close along with the Limerick Junction line to save money. Closure would come into affect from sometime during 2018.
