Claria Horn Boom is an American lawyer. Currently a partner in the Lexington office of Frost Brown Todd LLC, she is an announced nominee to be a United States District Judge jointly to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

Biography

Boom earned her undergraduate degree from Transylvania University and her Juris Doctor from the Vanderbilt University Law School. She clerked for Judge Pierce Lively of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Early in her career she was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and before that, practiced at King & Spalding in Atlanta, Georgia.[1]

Nomination to district court

On June 7, 2017, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Boom to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky and a Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, to the joint seat vacated by Judge Jennifer B. Coffman.[1] On June 12, 2017 her nomination was sent to the United States Senate and is currently pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.[2]

Personal

Boom grew up in the Martin County, Kentucky, where her mother served as clerk of the court.[1]
