Citizens' Coalition

Citizens' Coalition (Swedish: Medborgerlig Samling, MED) is a liberal-conservative political party in Sweden.

History

The party was founded in 2014.[1] as “Bourgeois Future” (Swedish: Borgerlig Framtid) when Anders Königsson[2], one of the party’s founders, was elected chairman of the party. At an extra general meeting in the fall of 2016, the party changed it’s name to Citizens' Coalition due to a conflict between the party board and Königsson[3][4]. At approximately the same time, Königsson registered a new party which re-used the name “Borgerlig Framtid” or Bourgeois Future – i.e. today the name refers to another party than the party founded in 2014[5]. At the extra general meeting, Ilan Sadé was elected chairman of the party.

In May 2017, the Swedish’ Election Authority registered the party name Citizens’ Coalition as official party designation[6] allowing the party to participate in the 2018 general elections.

Ideology and political positions

Citizens’ Coalition declares to be a liberal-conservative political party and favor a liberal economic policy as well as a conservative view of society and culture[7]
