Christian Democracy (Italy, 2012)

Christian Democracy (Democrazia Cristiana, DC) is a minor christian democratic political party in Italy. The current leader of the party is Gianni Fontana.

The party was launched by Clelio Darida, a former minister of Justice, in March 2012. At the founding congress Darida was elected honorary president, while Gianni Fontana, a former minister of Agriculture, and Silvio Lega, a former MEP, were made secretary and president, respectively.[1][2]

In May 2012 Giampiero Catone, a deputy elected with The People of Freedom and formerly a leading member of the Christian Democratic Centre, the Union of Christian and Centre Democrats and Christian Democracy for the Autonomies, joined the party, which was thus given parliamentary representation.[3]
