Chris Paddie is an American politician who is the current Texas state representative for District 9.[1] He serves on the Energy Resources and Land & Resource Management committees.[1]
Service
Paddie is a former mayor, and city commissioner of Marshall in Harrison County and the current general manager of KMHT radio, for which he hosts a daily talk show.[1] He is the former chairman of the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce and president of the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Pines.[1]
Political views
Paddie is considered a fiscal and social conservative Republican.[1] He voted for SB5, which would ban abortions after twenty weeks and require doctors to be registered at hospitals within thirty miles of their office.[2]
Personal life
Chris Paddie was born in Center, Texas and raised in Carthage. He graduated from Carthage High School and went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution.[3]
After graduation, Paddie moved to Houston where he worked selling safety equipment and industrial products. While in Houston, Chris married Brooke Hanszen, his high school sweetheart.[3] The Paddies returned home to East Texas and settled in Marshall, where Chris became the general manager of the KMHT radio station.[3]
Paddie was elected to the Marshall City Commission in 2008. He was selected by his colleagues to be Mayor of Marshall. On the Commission and as Mayor.[3]
Paddie was first elected to the Texas House, District 9, in November 2012 and was re-elected to subsequent terms in 2014 and 2016.[3]
