Chimbu Deven is an Indian film director, known for his fantasy films in Tamil cinema.[2] He debuted in film directing with the blockbuster historical comedy drama film Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi.
Film career
Chimbu started film career as an assistant director to filmmaker Cheran. He assisted Cheran for Vetri Kodi Kattu. His first independent direction opportunity came across from S Pictures. When the story was narrated to director S. Shankar, he liked it so much and immediately proceeded with the film Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi.[3]
His second film was also for S Pictures, the 'fantasy comedy' film Arai En 305-il Kadavul (God in room no.305) which had Santhanam and Ganja Karuppu in the lead. His third movie, a Cowboy genre, Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam had Raghava Lawrence playing the lead along with Padmapriya. He later worked on Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanikalum with Arulnidhi. His latest movie was Puli with Vijay in the lead role. This movie was produced by Vijay's P.R.O P.T.Selvakumar and Shibu Thameens Films and is the biggest movie in the Ilayathalapathy's Vijay career. Yesteryear actress Sridevi made a comeback in Tamil with this movie and Kiccha Sudeep played the antagonist. Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani played the lead actress while Devi Sri Prasad scored the music for the film.[4] The movie released on October 2nd 2015, to mixed to negative reviews and ended up a commercial failure.
