Cherif is a French police television series produced by Lionel Olenga, Laurent Scalese and Stéphane Drouet, broadcast since October 25, 2013 on France 2.

Synopsis

Capitaine Kader Cherif of Lyon's Brigade criminelle is passionate about his job. He never really leaves work since he lives across the street from the Commissariat (Police Station). For many years Cherif's unorthodox methods have earned him success. However, his new police partner, Capitaine Adeline Briard, is annoyed by his style of investigation.

Development

In 2010, France 2 called for proposals for a new television series. Lionel Olenga, co-producer along with Laurent Scalese and Stephane Drouet, aimed to create a cop show that was more entertaining. [further translation needed]:

Ayant travaillé à la douane pendant treize ans, il avait pris pour habitude de mettre des génériques de séries télé pendant les planques. C'est ce côté « surréaliste » et « décalé » qu'il mettra dans Cherif.

In early 2015, the channel renewed the series for a third season due to positive feedback from the second season.[1] Adbdelhafid Metalsi (Kader Cherif) confirmed that on January 30, 2015 that the third season was in the process of being written.[2]

Shooting

Contrary to the series' usual production methods, it was shot twice, once from October 15 to December 7, 2012 (episodes 1 to 4) and then from February 11 to April 5, 2013 (episodes 5 to 8).
