History

Proyecto 2000

Chepo FC was founded in 1999 under the name of Proyecto 2000,[1] where it gathered young players from around the country aspiring to win a ticket to the Liga Panameña de FĂștbol one day. They started playing in the Liga Distritorial de FĂștbol de PanamĂĄ (Lidifutpa).[3]

In 2000 the team was renamed Chepo FC due to expansion and participated in 2003 in Primera A.

In 2006 the team gained promotion from Primera A to the Liga Panameña de FĂștbol after beating Pan de AzĂșcar 2–1.[4] They have not been very successful at the highest level and only reached the semi-finals of the 2008 Apertura season.[5]

By may 2016 main sponsor retired support to the club and entered on a severe economic crisis causing the team to fold[6], it was replaced by Liga Nacional de Ascenso runner-up S.D. AtlĂ©tico VeragĂŒense.
