Background

The intensity of this rivalry is also due to political reasons. The two teams are from the neighbouring southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The first time these two teams met in IPL was on 28 April 2008 where CSK won by 13 runs. The rivalry is also termed as the South Indian Derby.[3][4][5][6]
