Charlie Sloth (born 20 August 1987) is an English DJ, producer, actor and TV presenter who was born and raised in Somers Town, North West London, England.

Career

Sloth's career began in 2007 after he won "Most Original Video" at the CraveFest awards Canada for music video, "Guided Tour of Camden".[1]

Sloth is a DJ on BBC Radio 1, presenting The Rap Show,[2] and a presenter on the weekday drivetime BBC Radio 1Xtra show. His trademark segment on both BBC shows, Fire in the Booth, is "regarded as a real mark of prestige in the scene, especially for newcomers" with MCs from grime and hip-hop coming into the studio to freestyle.[2] Akala, Avelino, Devlin, Professor Green, K Koke, Lowkey, Bugzy Malone, Big Narstie, Tinie Tempah, Wretch 32 and others have performed on Fire in the Booth.[2]

Sloth founded record label Grimey Limey, which was instrumental to the careers of Bugzy Malone and Potter Payper. Bugzy's Walk with Me EP peaked at number 8 on the UK Albums Chart.[3]

2003-2006

Sloth was prominent on London pirate radio stations such as RawFM, Freek FM, Deja Vu FM and Raw Mission FM.

2007-

Sloth created 'Being Charlie Sloth' which was picked up by WorldStarHipHop.com. The show ran for 58 episodes, and every Monday, a new episode was made live and would be watched by millions of people.[4]

2008-

In 2008 Sloth won "Best Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B Unsigned Artist" at the CraveFest awards in Canada.[5] Sloth released 'Hard Being Good' in 2008.[6]

As of February 2016, Sloth appears on 6 radio shows a week for the BBC.[7]

Sloth produced the track "Of Course" by Giggs featuring Rico Love, taken from Giggs' critically acclaimed fourth album, Landlord (2016).
