Charlie Airlines (operating as Cyprus Airways) is a Cyprus-based airline, based at Larnaca International Airport. The airline takes its name from the former bankrupt Cyprus Airways after winning trade mark rights to use the name.[1][2] The airline's logo incorporates an olive branch, the main symbol of Cyprus.

History

In 2016, it was announced that S7 Airlines planned to launch a Cypriot airline under the name Charlie Airlines. In July 2016 it was announced that the airline had won a competition for the right to use the trademark Cyprus Airways for a decade.[3]

On 4 March 2017, the airline conducted its proving flight from Larnaca International Airport to Heraklion International Airport with Airbus A319, as part of the procedure to obtain the certificate.[4]

On 14 March 2017, it was announced that the airline had obtained the Air Operator Certificate from the Cypriot Department of Civil Aviation.[5]
