Charles Harenc

Charles Joseph Harenc (born 3 August 1811 at Foots Cray, Kent; died 14 December 1877 at Bedford) was an English cricketer in the mid-19th century. He was a member of the great Kent team of the 1840s and also played for MCC. Harenc was an amateur player who began his first-class career at Oxford University. He was a stubborn late order right-handed batsman, but was best known as a bowler of right-arm slow underarm lobs.

Harenc was educated at Harrow School and Christ Church, Oxford. He made his known cricket debut in the 1830 season and had 56 known appearances in major matches until the 1849 season.[1] He scored 828 runs, with an average of 9.51 and highest score 68. He was a successful bowler with a known tally of 130 wickets and a best performance of eight in one innings. He twice took ten wickets in a match.

Three of his brothers, Henry, Edward and Archibald, also made appearances in first-class cricket but not with his success.
