Chaetodon nippon, also known as the Japanese butterflyfish, is a species of marine angelfish found in the northwest Pacific Ocean, in the waters of Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Taiwan.[1] It is particularly common around the Izu Islands.[1] With a preference for rocky coastal reef habitats, it has been recorded at depths of 5–20 metres (16–66 ft), though likely appears in deeper water as well.
