Central Private School (CPS) or Central Private (CP) is a private education institution located in Central City, Louisiana. It is one of several private schools located in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Faculty
The school's faculty is composed of 56 teachers.[1]
Curriculum
Subjects include science, art, mathematics, language arts, physical education, social studies, and foreign languages.[2]
Student body
The majority of the students are white, along with students of other ethnicities. The school enrolls students from East Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.
Athletics
The school left the Louisiana Independent School Association in 1992 to join the Mississippi Private School Association (MPSA). The MPSA changed its name in 2009 to the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS).[3]
- Baseball—The Rebels have won 12 state championships since the school's opening in 1971, including the years 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2013.
- Football—After finishing 1-9 in 2005, the Rebels improved their record to 7-4 in 2006, earning a playoff berth and a District Championship, their first since 1991. The Rebels lost in the first playoff round to Porters Chapel. The Rebels won the District Championship in 2008 and 2009.
- Basketball—The Rebels won four consecutive titles from 1998–2002
