Cateura
Cateura is a small town in Paraguay located about 6 miles south of Asuncion on the Paraguay River. It has a population of about 10,000.[1] It is a poor, unsafe area in the Bañado Sur region.[2] It is the home to Paraguay's main landfill, and many of its inhabitants live by scavenging for parts and selling them. However, it has partially recovered due to a well-publicized music program, the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, which has grown famous after appearing with many bands; the Orchestra is directed and was founded by Favio Chavez.[3]
