The Cardiff Fringe Theatre Festival (CFTF) was founded in 2016 with the intent of providing accessible theatre and stage entertainment to Cardiff and to build on recent growth in the performing arts sector by giving both established and new acts a chance to perform.[1]
History
Founded by Isabelle Paige, Steve Bennett, George Soave, Minty Booth, Duncan Hallis, Alice Downing, George Goding, Joe Burke, Joseph Burke, George Nichols, Cory Tucker, the mission was to provide an arts festival to Cardiff with aims similar to those of other fringe festivals. To provide low priced entertainment at 'fringe' venues, creating publicity and accessibility for a range of different shows. The company's aims are to keep ticket prices low, allow the new and inexperienced to be showcased alongside the more established, and to create a wide variety of entertainment that appeals to different audiences.[1] [2]
Festival Programme 2017
Taking place between from 15th - 22nd July, in addition to the billed shows a large number of workshops and free performances were included in the program with the aim of educating and boosting acting/writing/directing in Wales. Several shows aimed at children were included the line-up to try and create a more family friendly appeal. [3] Sponsors included Dawnus, Arts & business Cymru and TicketSource.[4]
