Canal Bank Road

Canal Bank Road is a 6 lane[1] road in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan that runs along the banks of the Lahore Canal[2] passing through Harbanspura, Mughalpura, Gulberg, University of the Punjab Thokar Niaz Beg. The road starts from Thokar Niaz Beg and ends at the village of Khera near the border with India. The total length of the road is approximately 30 km.

It contains a heavy traffic of Lahore travelling on it. It has been converted into a signal free highway by building underpasses and flyovers. There are at least 10 underpasses at crossings with Shalimar Road, Infantry Road, Mall Road, Jail Road, Chauhdry Zahoor Elahi Road, Ferozpur Road, Masood Farooqi Road, Khayaban-e-Jamia Punjab, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Johar Town Main Boulevard. It also has a flyover at Thokar Niaz Baig, where it merges into Multan Road before the entrance to the Motorway M2 towards Islamabad. At least two flyovers cross it: Shalimar Flyover and Muslim Town Flyover.

Improvement of Canal Road Lahore from Thokar Niaz Baig to Defence Road, Lahore. Canal Bank Road is a 3-lane road in Lahore, Pakistan that runs along the banks of Lahore Canal and passes through local areas of Harbanspura, Mughalpura, Gulberg, University of Punjab and Thokar Niaz Baig. The improvement of this route was done to provide relief to the traffic flowing from Thokar Niaz Baig to Bahria Town and vice versa. The project was started on December 1, 2010 and was completed in February 28, 2011, incurring a cost of PKR 315 million as quoted by the contractor (Habib Construction Services) of the project.

Widening and Improvement of Canal Bank Road from Multan Road to Doctor's Hospital Underpass, Lahore. Widening and improvement of the road provided relief to the overflowing traffic at various congestion points that is Johar Town, Campus, Barkat Market, Muslim Town Morr, and Jail Road. The project was started on October 28, 2011 and was completed on January 15, 2012, incurring a cost of PKR 166 million according to the contractor (Habib Construction Services) of the project.
