2017 U.S. Open

At the 2017 U.S. Open, after two rounds, Champ made the cut and was tied for eighth place.[3] He was also the driving leader over the first two days of the tournament.[4] He earned entry in the tournament though sectional qualifying, where he had to compete in a playoff.[5] The 2017 U.S. Open was his first major appearance.[6] He, along with Scottie Scheffler, was one of two amateurs to make the cut.[7] Scheffler finished as the low amateur at 1-under-par, while Champ finished at even-par.
