Calum Waddell
Calum Waddell is a British writer, documentary producer/ director, film critic and academic.
Biography
His books include Minds of Fear, Taboo Breakers, Jack Hill: The Exploitation and Blaxploitation Master, Film by Film, Cannibal Holocaust and RoboCop: The Definitive History and his work has been published in such magazines as Neo, SFX, SciFiNow, Total Film, Impact and Fangoria.[1] He has also been a longtime contributor to the official Star Wars Insider magazine.
In addition, Waddell was an associate producer on the films The Collingswood Story and Brotherhood of Blood. He is credited as a co-writer and co-producer on the documentary American Grindhouse,[2] which was directed by Elijah Drenner, it had its premiere as part of the South by Southwest Film Festival.[3]
His own feature-length documentary, as director, Slice and Dice: The Slasher Film Forever was released by UK company 88 Films. Waddell also runs High Rising Productions which has created numerous DVD extra features for Arrow Films and other home video labels.[4] He later became associated with 88 Films for whom he has acquired many of their titles [5] produced several feature length documentaries and curates their Asian cinema line [6] Waddell is also one of the notable western names to document the K-pop scene - frequently tweeting from concerts [7] and occasionally using his blog to document the trend [8]
