Community Television of Knoxville, or CTV Knoxville, is an American public access television station located in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. It is owned by the Knoxville City Government. Broadcast facilities are located at 808 State Street in Knoxville.
History
CTV Knoxville began cable-casting (cable broadcasting) in 1975. The station added local government meetings in 1977. [1] In 2009, the station moved to its current facility.
Programming
CTV Knoxville’s local programming includes meetings of the Knoxville City Council, the Knox County Commission, and the Knox County Ethics Committee. Coverage of some of those meetings are live, while some are delayed to avoid scheduling conflicts. [2] It also provides non-commercial programs made by residents of the community. Several of those programs are religion-oriented, while others focus on health issues, agricultural affairs, and/or current events. In addition, The First Baptist Church of Knoxville broadcasts their worship services on the channel, with two versions: one for the regular people, and the other version specifically targeting the deaf. The only syndicated program on the station is WNPT’s Tennessee’s Wild Side, which is also seen in the area via East Tennessee PBS. [3]
