CPH:PIX

CPH PIX is an annual film festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. The festival resulted from the merger of the Copenhagen International Film Festival and the NatFilm Festival in 2008 to create an organisation called Copenhagen Film Festivals, which also manages the documentary film festival CPH:DOX as well as the MIX CPH LGBTQ Film Festival .

The first edition of CPH PIX was held in April 2009 with an audience number of 36,500, which was the largest audience ever recorded for a film festival in Copenhagen. Since the first edition, the festival has grown in size to a record high total of 65,000 audiences in 2016.[1]

In 2016 the festival merged with the BUSTER Film Festival for Children and Youth to become one big festival for all ages. At the same time the festival moved from April to September/October.

CPH PIX is recognized for its focus on new film talents, supporting talent development and presenting unreleased quality films from a wide specter of countries and cultures. The 14 day programme is packed with 200 films from around the world and 700 film related activities. As part of the main programme, the festival presents retrospective series with highly acclaimed filmmakers including William Friedkin, Andrzej Zulawski, Terence Davies and Bertrand Bonello, often in collaboration with the Danish Cinematheque.

Parallel to the film programme, CPH PIX also hosts seminars, educational workshops for schools, artist talks, theatrical performances and film related concerts. Throughout the years well known artists such as John Carpenter, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream and Jóhann Jóhannsson have performed as part of the festival.

Next edition of CPH PIX will be held from September 28 to October 11, 2017.[2]
