The station was launched on February 20, 2008 by Astral Media. The license for CHBD was originally awarded to Standard Broadcasting on May 28, 2007, although Astral acquired Standard's radio assets in October 2007 before the station's launch.[1] Astral Media was in turn acquired by Bell Media in 2013, giving the company its first radio station in Saskatchewan, and making CHBD-FM a sister station to CTV station CKCK-DT.
