Buz Verno

Buz Verno was born in Staten Island, New York on September 28, 1953. Encouraged by his father to start playing music at a very young age, Buz first began playing guitar at the age of 7. Feeling an overwhelming need to hone his musical talents even more, Buz began to write songs and lyrics. At age 12, Buz switched to bass guitar and a star was born.

Career

Widely known for his hard hitting songs and emphatic lyrics, Buz has been a key band member and songwriter for The Rats, Beau Jack, Cherry Vanilla,[1][2][3][4] The Staten Island Boys,[5] David Johansen Group,[6][7] Sylvain Sylvain and the Teenage News, The Others and Helen Schneider and the Kick. Buz received his first Gold record in 1982 for the album Helen Schneider with The Kick.

During his career, Buz has toured or traded licks with the likes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Earl Slick, David Johansen,[8] Sylvain Sylvain,[9] Greg Allen, Cherry Vanilla,[10] Helen Schneider, Thomas Trask,[11] Johnny Rao,[12] Tom Morrongiello,[13] Joey Kelly and other major recording artists.

Currently, Buz is working on a new project due out in 2011.[14]
