Brookside (also called Waterstreet) is an historic unincorporated community within Mendham Township in Morris County, New Jersey, United States.[6][1][7]
It is located approximately 6 mi (9.7 km) west of Morristown.
The settlement appeared on maps as early as 1777.[1]
A portion of the Washington Valley Trial, the trail in which President George Washington and his troops marched on, runs through the entirety of Brookside's woods and if a notable feature of the community.
Brookside was noted as a "post village" in 1882.[8] In 1883, the population was 187.[9]
There are many local events that happen throughout the year, including the annual "Brookside 4th of July" Parade sponsored by the Community Club. Informally known as the "Grandest Hometown Parade in America", the parade has been a community staple for over 85 years and includes community groups, fire departments, ambulance squads, farm animals, a pooch parade, floats and bands. It starts at 9 am every July 4th with the route going from the intersection of Dogwood Drive and Tingley Road down to East Main Street where it makes a right turn onto the same and proceeds all the way down where it ends at the Community Club Field where food, games, and activities for people of all ages are held. The Brookside Engine Company #1 Clam Bake is also held on the field at the Community Club the first Saturday in September which is sponsored by the Brookside Engine Company #1, the local fire department who recently celebrated their 100th Anniversary of providing service to the community. The menu usually includes clams steamed or raw, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, corn on the cob, beans, chowder, and beverages.
Other events and programs are often offered by the Mendham Township Library, located on the 1st floor of the municipal building on West Main Street in Brookside. The library website and bulletin board in town hall usually contain a list of events and contact information to RSVP.

As of the 2010 United States Census, the 07926 ZIP Code Tabulation Area for Brookside had a population of 120.[2]
