Bremen II – Bremerhaven is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. One of two districts covering the state of Bremen, it consists of the city of Bremerhaven and the northern parts of Bremen, even though these areas are 50 km (31 miles) apart.

The constituency was created for the 1949 election, the first election in West Germany after World War II. At the 2002 election, the number of seats in the state of Bremen was reduced from three to two and the constituency expanded to take in parts of the abolished Bremen West constituency.

The Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) has won the seat at every election since its creation and the current representative is Uwe Beckmeyer.

Boundaries

From its creation in 1949, the constituency was called Bremerhaven-Bremen North and consisted of the city of Bremerhaven and the Bremen districts of Blumenthal, Burglesum and Vegesack.

For the 2002 election, the constituency expanded to gain the Bremen districts of Blockland, Findorff, Gröpelingen, Häfen, Seehausen, Strom, Walle and Woltmershausen.[1]
