BoxLunch is an American retail chain specializing in gifts with a pop culture theme. The company sells its products both online and in brick and mortar stores across the United States. BoxLunch carries both licensed and unlicensed pop culture themed merchandise.[1] The product line includes apparel, accessories, home goods, novelties, and collectibles.[2]

History

The company was launched on October 14, 2015 by American retail chain Hot Topic.[3] The first BoxLunch store opened in Brea, California[4] and there are now over 50 stores across the United States, including a BoxLunch store in Hawaii’s Ala Moana Center[5] and Des Moines, Iowa.[6]

Corporate social responsibility

BoxLunch has a partnership with Feeding America, a domestic hunger-relief charity. BoxLunch helps to provide a meal with every ten dollars spent at a BoxLunch store or online.[7] BoxLunch has donated over 4 million meals to people in need.[8] Their tagline for corporate social responsibility is “Get some, give back.”

Product assortment and collaboration

BoxLunch carries a variety pop culture–themed gifts, novelty items and collectibles, including clothing, accessories and housewares. Its target audience is adults who are in search of pop culture merchandise that is both nostalgic and age appropriate. Some of the brand's key licenses are Harry Potter, Disney and Star Wars.

BoxLunch has exclusive licensed merchandise including Sanrio,[9] Stranger Things,[10] Funko Pop! vinyls and Star Wars.[11] BoxLunch has also collaborated with the artist, Rob Prior to create exclusive Star Wars designs for its Star Wars line of merchandise.[12]
