Bowel ischemia
In medicine, bowel ischemia refers to a restriction in blood supply to tissues in the bowels.
There are two common types:
- Mesenteric ischemia, ischemia of the small bowel, or,
- Ischemic colitis, ischemia of the large bowel.
Bowel ischemia can also occur secondary to a small bowel obstruction.
