Boulevard Voltaire is an extreme-right news website, launched by Robert Ménard and Dominique Jamet on October 1, 2012. The website's name is a reference to "la rue" (English: the street) in website Rue89 and to the group Réseau Voltaire (English: Voltaire Network).

When Boulevard Voltaire was launched, Jamet explained he was aiming at promoting "freedom" such as "freedom of expression, of tone, of speech" and "pluralism" in order to "express opinions that are not necessarily right-thinking and allowed by big publishing conglomerates and political parties".
Dominique Jamet
Dominique Jamet is the former editor in chief of the Quotidien de Paris and numerous other newspapers such as Marianne. He has said he is in favour of total freedom of speech except for incitements of hatred, torture, or murder.
Robert Ménard
Robert Ménard is a journalist and a politician, founder of the association Reporters sans frontières (RSF). In 2010, he became mayor of southern French city Béziers with the support of Marine Le Pen's National Front, Debout la France, Mouvement pour la France and Rassemblement pour la France.

In the press release announcing the launch of Boulevard Votaire, there were some references to numerous other French news websites:
″We would say Boulevard Voltaire is not the French subsidiary of a North-American commercial company" referring to The Huffington Post.
"Boulevard voltaire is not an office specialized in exclusive revelations from the gutter, police source or political source″ referring to Mediapart.
″Boulevard Voltaire is not a branch establishment leaning against a big publishing conglomerate" referring to Rue89 bought up by Le Nouvel Observateur.
Starting in January 2017, it has been the subject of a campaign to notify and advise advertisers to blacklist the website from their advertising channels by the online group Sleeping Giants.
