Bluey Robinson
Bluey Alexander Robinson[1] (born 6 August 1988),[2] is a British singer/songwriter and recording artist from South London. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden and is of mixed descent.
Early life
Bluey moved to Hackney from Sweden at 3 months old and was raised by his mother. He discovered his passion for music at the age of three, singing along to vinyls on his parents home turntable. Otis Redding, The Drifters, Jackson 5, Bob Marley and The Beatles were just a few of his early inspirations. While in education, Bluey took part in many school performances and sometimes took lessons in traditional Indian dance during his lunch. He was asked, along with some school friends to perform these at an event for Prince Charles in Peckham and afterwards was urged by his dance teacher to audition for the role of 'Young Simba,' in the upcoming West End debut of Disney's, 'The Lion King.' Though getting to the final rounds he ended up missing out that year but eventually gained the role a year later. This cemented his passion for music and the arts. He followed an after school acting club with Sharon Harris and in 2004, briefly played Billie Jackson on the BBC soap opera Eastenders.
Musical career
Focussed on making waves through his first love of music, Bluey formed a vocal harmony group with some school friends. After years working together, the group eventually disbanded. As a solo act, he later earned recognition through Youtube by uploading videos of himself singing Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men and Motown classics to unsuspecting commuters on the streets and underground services of London, Paris and New York. Eventually earning millions of views and working with, then unknown, producer Labrinth, he soon caught the attention of label and industry heads. Robinson landed a deal with Sony, RCA, under management team, London Village Music. After a troubled run however, due to internal department restructure, Bluey was released from his contract 2 years later. Still inspired, he went on to release 2 independent projects and completed his own UK tour 'The Late Shift Tour.' He joined Justin Bieber onstage for the My World Tour as an opening act and was main support for both, Trey Songz and friend Tinie Tempah's UK tours. Now working as an independent artist, Bluey is recording and writing new material while also working with collective, 'The Fedz.'
