The blue-throated bee-eater (Merops viridis) is a species of bird in the family Meropidae. It is found in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines (where it is called manunubing),[2] Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
Subspecies M. v. americanus of The Philippines is sometimes considered a distinct species, the rufous-crowned bee-eater, M. americanus.
In captivity
This species is very rare in captivity.The Weltvogelpark Walsrode in Germany kept this species between 1999 & 2004.
