Budget

Governance

Black Gold Regional Division No.18 is governed by a Board of Trustees (also called a Board of Education). In Black Gold, there are 7 positions elected by public school taxpayers during municipal elections: two from the City of Leduc, one from the Town of Devon, one from the Town of Beaumont and one from each of the three rural wards (County Central, County East, County West). While elected from specific wards, trustees must represent the best interests of the entire Division.

French Immersion Schools

Black Gold Regional Division No. 18 (BGRD) offers Early French Immersion in its Beaumont and Leduc Family of Schools with the objective of providing full mastery of the English language, functional fluency in French, as well as an understanding and appreciation of the French culture. BGRD’s Early French Immersion program is a highly effective way for students to become functionally fluent in French while achieving all of the objectives of a regular school program. Early immersion means that students will begin their immersion experience in Kindergarten or Grade 1 and continue in the program to Grade 12.
