William "Billy" Stagg (born 17 October 1957) is a retired English football winger who played in the Football League for Brentford. He also played in Sweden and the United States.[2][3] Stagg's 5'4" height ties him with Hughie Reed for the record of shortest Brentford player.[4]
Career
A graduate of the Brentford youth team, Stagg made four appearances for the Bees during the 1974–75 Division Four campaign at the age of 16.[2] Stagg was released in the summer of 1975 and dropped into non-league football, playing for Wealdstone (two spells),[5] Staines Town,[2] Aylesbury United,[5] Hazells,[5] Tonbridge Angels, Northwood (three spells),[6] Hendon and St Albans City.[7][8] He had a short spell with Swedish Division Two side GAIS during the 1980 season,[9] scoring in a 4–0 win over eventual champions Örgryte IS.[10]
