Berry Good (Hangul: 베리굿; RR: Beri Gut) is a South Korean girl group formed by Asia Bridge Entertainment in 2014. The group current line-up consists of Taeha, Johyun, Seoyul, Daye, Sehyung and Gowoon. They released their debut single Love Letter in May 2014.
History
2014-2015: Debut with Love Letter and line-up changes

Berry Good debuted on May 21, 2014, with the music video for "Love Letter", a remake of the song released by Click-B in 2000.[1][2][3] The eponymous single was released the following day,[4] when they also started promotions on M! Countdown.[5]
In January 2015, Asia Bridge Entertainment stated that Subin, Iera and Nayeon had left the group to concentrate on their studies,[6] and introduced new member Seoyul,[7][8] followed by Daye and Sehyung.[9][10][11]
Their second single Because of You was released on February 9.[12][13][14] They started promotions on February 10 on SBS MTV's The Show.[15] In June, their representative office launched various Berry Good goods (such as accessories, clothes and cosmetics) in China.[16]
On September 23, their third single My First Love was released.[17] Two music videos were produced, one of which features actress Kim Bo-ra. The song, posthumous work of composer Joo Tae-young, was first performed in advance on September 20 at Hallyu Dream Concert,[18][19] and promotions started on September 22 on The Show.[20]
2016-present: Very Berry, new member Johyun and Glory

On March 11, Berry Good launched a crowdfunding campaign to produce their first EP on Makestar. The ₩10-million goal was reached in ten days[21][22] and the campaign ultimately raised ₩16,084,438, 160.8% of its original goal. On April 20, the crowdfunded mini-album Very Berry, led by title track "Angel", was released.[23]
Their following release was crowdfunded on Makestar as well.[24] The project started on September 1 as a new single, but it was later upgraded to a mini album,[25][26] and ended raising ₩26,896,790, 268.97% of its original 10-million goal. The group also added a sixth member, Johyun.[27] Three out of four songs from the EP, including the lead track "Don't Believe", were showcased on Arirang Radio's K-poppin' one day before their release.[28] The official music video for "Don't Believe", and the group's second mini album Glory, were released on November 1.[29]
A third Makestar project was launched on March 9, 2017[30] to finance their sixth digital single "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo". While the song was released on April 16, its music video was uploaded to the group's YouTube channel the day after.[31] To promote "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo", Berry Good adopted a "part-timer concept", experiencing part-time works between schedules and sending proceeds to the needy.[32] On June 9, they performed three songs at the Thống Nhất Stadium of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.[33]
Image and musical style
Berry Good started their career with dance tracks,[34] before releasing their first ballad "My First Love" in September 2015. It was described as a "melancholy piece that portrays a first love different from the usual heart-fluttering experiences that similar themed songs tend to champion."[35] To promote "Don't Believe" in November 2016, Berry Good underwent a change of styling and concept to take off the original girlish, neat and pure image,[36] adding EDM and tropical house elements to their music.[28]

Current members
- Taeha (Hangul: 태하) was born Yoo Joo[37] (Hangul: 유주; Hanja: 柳州[38]) in Gwangju[39] on October 5, 1995.[40][41] She is the group leader and main vocal.[39][42] The only child of a wealthy family, Taeha grew up in Busan.[43] She started playing piano at a young age and participated in musicals during her elementary school days. During high school, she was the vocal singer in a band that performed at relatively successful events and festivals; she subsequently became interested in foxtrot and Korean traditional music, studying trot and pansori.[44] She was scouted at the auditions for a vocal academy and entered the entertainment industry in 2008, starting her training in singing and dancing, and working as a model for school uniforms since 2012.[45][46][47][48] She graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul.[49][50]
- Johyun (Hangul: 조현) was born Shin Ji-won (Hangul: 신지원;[27] Hanja: 申知原[39]) in Bundang-gu, Seongnam,[39] on April 14, 1996. She was introduced as new member to the group on October 25, 2016.[51] She currently attends the Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment of Dongduk Women's University.[39]
- Seoyul (Hangul: 서율) was born Seo Yu-ri (Hangul: 서유리; Hanja: 徐侑里[38]) in Haeundae, Busan,[39] on November 26, 1997.[41] She is the younger sister of AOA's Yuna, and was the runner-up at the Korean edition of The Voice Kids.[52] At school she was a band vocalist,[48] and graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul in February 2016.[50][53]
- Daye (Hangul: 다예) was born Kim Hyeon-jeong (Hangul: 김현정; Hanja: 金賢貞[38]) in Seoul[39] on February 25, 1998.[41] She is a sub-vocalist and the lead rapper.[54] She has a younger brother.[39] Daye realized she wanted to pursue a music career while living with her grandmother, who could sing trot.[55] Before debuting, she underwent an year of training.[56] She graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul in February 2017[50][57] and enrolled in the Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment of Dongduk Women's University.[58] Daye penned the lyrics for "Fall in Love" from second mini-album Glory.
- Sehyung (Hangul: 세형) was born Kang Se-hyung (Hangul: 강세형; Hanja: 姜世馨[38]) in Seoul[39] on December 13, 1998.[41] She is a rapper.[48] Before debuting, she underwent six months of training.[59] Sehyung attended Bukgajwa-dong Primary School, Ewha Womans University Junior High School, and graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul in February 2017;[50][39][57] she subsequently enrolled in the Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment of Dongduk Women's University.[58]
- Gowoon (Hangul: 고운) was born Moon Yu-jeong (Hangul: 문유정; Hanja: 文裕晸[38]) in Bundang-gu, Seongnam,[39] on December 28, 1998.[40][41][60] She is the main vocal.[39] She graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul in February 2017[49][50][57] and enrolled in the Department of Broadcasting and Entertainment of Dongduk Women's University.[58]

- Subin (Hangul: 수빈) was born Kim Su-bin (Hangul: 김수빈) on September 4, 1994. She was in girl group D-U (Double-U) in 2011 and modeled for an online clothing store before joining Berry Good as rapper.[40]
- Iera (Hangul: 이라) was born Jeong Yi-ra (Hangul: 정이라) on April 10, 1995 and was a DSP Media trainee. She was one of the group's rappers. Iera has two older sisters, A-reum and Da-un.[40]
- Nayeon (Hangul: 나연) was born Kim Na-yeon (Hangul: 김나연) on May 15, 1996[40] and graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul.[49] In 2017, she competed in Mnet's talent show Idol School.[61]
