Bernie Grundman
Bernie Grundman is an American audio engineer.
He is most known for his mastering work and his studio, Bernie Grundman Mastering, which he opened in 1983 in Hollywood. The studio, which includes engineers Chris Bellman, Patricia Sullivan, Mike Bozzi, and Brian Gardner, mastered 37 projects which received Grammy Award nominations in 2005. In 1997 he opened a studio in Tokyo.[1]
Grundman and his studio have both won numerous TEC Awards, including Best Mastering Facility and several production awards.[2]
Previously, Grundman worked at Contemporary Records and then was head of the A&M Records mastering department in Los Angeles. Now his studio also has been established in Tokyo, Japan with engineer Yasuji Maeda.
Albums that Grundman mastered
- In 1991, he mastered the album Moment of Truth by Terri Nunn.
- In 1992 Grundman participated in mastering Dr. Dre's début solo album The Chronic.
- In 1997 he mastered heavy metal album of Rata Blanca, VII.
- In 2010, he mastered Jacky Cheung album, Private Corner
- In 2014, he mastered Lisa Stansfield's album, Seven and Jennifer Warnes' The Hunter (24 karat gold CD) from her own analog master studio tapes.
- He also mastered Breakaway by Dark Horse Flyer in 2014.
