Benny Behanan Born to late Mr. O.Thomas (freedom fighter) & Chinnamma Thomas, on 22nd August, 1952 in Vengola, a small village in Perumbavoor, Ernakulam District, Kerala. Political legacy was in the bloodline through father, who was an active worker in the Congress party.Had several opportunities to serve the Congress party and its frontal organizations. Political career started as the Unit President of KSU in the early 70's.(born 22 August 1952) is a Kerala politician of the Indian National Congress party. He was the MLA of Thrikkakara Legislative Assembly Constituency. He was the General Secretary of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee for 17 years. Earlier he had won Piravom in 1982, and contested unsuccessfully to the Lok Sabha as UDF Candidate from Idukki Parliament Constituency in 2004.

Hailing from a Congress family, Benny Behanan has held various positions within the party.

- General Secretary, Kerala Pradesh Youth Congress Committee from 1979–1982
- Member of KPCC Executive Since 1981
- In 1982, he was elected to the Kerala State Legislative Assembly
- All India Congress Committee (AICC) Member since 1996
- Managing Director, Veekshanam Daily Newspaper since 2006[1]
- President of Thrissur District Congress Committee since 2010[2]
In 2011,he was again elected to kerala Legislative Assembly.He is now representing Thrikkakara Constituency.
