Ben Betts (born 28 August 1996, Ballyhahill, Co. Limerick, Ireland)[1] is an Irish professional rugby union prop forward for Leicester Tigers in the Premiership.

Career

Born in Ballyhahill in County Limerick he went to school at Tarbet Comprehensive school in County Kerry. Betts' first club was Shannon Estuary after a single year he moved on to Young Munster where he spent majority of his youth career.[2] Betts was named in the Ireland squad for the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship.[3] Despite featuring strongly in Ireland's run to the final he was not offered a professional contract by the IRFU or Munster. Instead Betts moved across the Irish sea to Leicester Tigers.[4]

Betts made his Leicester debut from the bench on 28 January 2017 in the Anglo-Welsh Cup against Northampton Saints at Welford Road.[5] He featured again the next week but has yet to feature in the Premiership. He spent the season on a dual registration with Loughborough Students in National League 1, before spending a summer loan spell with Sydney University in Australia.[6]
