Belmont Community School (formerly known as Belmont School Community Arts College) is a comprehensive school in Belmont, County Durham, England.

History

The school was built in 1960s and in 2006/7 had a new £500,000 performing arts block added onto the campus. This block includes a professional dance, drama and music studio along with state-of-the-art recording equipment.

The school was awarded Arts College specialist-school status in 2006, and the school was renamed Belmont School Community Arts College, when the new performing arts building was built. However the school returned to its original community college status in late 2011.

In 2009/10, the school's future was under debate by the local authority, as plans to close the school had been proposed. From this happening a new academy was going to be built on the same campus, merging Durham Gilesgate Sports College with Belmont School.

As of September 2015, the headteacher is Mr Paul Marsden who succeeded Miss Judith Wilkinson.
