Beekkant is a metro station in the City of Brussels served by lines 1, 2, 5 and 6 of the Brussels Metro. The station, in the west side of Brussels, is in the municipality of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, running parallel to a railway used for freight trains and in 2010 again as suburban railway line of the future Brussels RER. It opened on 8 May 1981.

Beekkant station was for a year, until October 1982, the western terminus of the Brussels Metro line 1.

History

At Beekkant till 3 April 2009:

The trains of the line 1A came from the east changed direction and continued their route towards Roi Baudoin.

The trains of the line 1B came from east and they continued their route towards Erasme.

But a Beekkant after 4 April 2009:

The trains of the line 1 from the east continue their route towards the West Station and Stockel.

The trains of the line 5 from the east continue their route towards Erasme and Herrmann-Debroux.

The trains of the line 2 from the West Station continue their route towards Simonis.

The trains of the line 6 from the West Station continue their route towards Roi Baudoin.

The trains of the lines 2 and 6 towards the West Station continue their route towards Elizabeth.
