Bartolome Ortiz de Rozas y Garcia de Villasuso (1689-1750s) was a Spanish nobleman, Knight of the Royal Order of Santiago,[2] Comisario General de Reales Guardias.[3] and Procurador General of Valle de Soba.[4]

Biography

Bartolomé was baptized on September 4, 1689 in the town of Rozas (Santander, Spain), being his parents Urban Ortiz de Rozas Fernández de Soto and Isabel García de Villasuso Sainz.[5] He was married in Madrid on June 2, 1713 to Antonia Rodillo de Brizuela, belonging to a distinguished Spanish family.[6] Bartolomé and his wife were parents of Domingo Ortiz de Rozas y Rodillo, Captain of Granaderos of Buenos Aires and founder of the Ortiz de Rozas family in the Río de la Plata.[7]

Bartolome Ortiz de Rozas García de Villasuso entered the Royal Order of Santiago in 1737.[8] He was brother of Domingo Ortiz de Rosas, 1st Marquis of Poblaciones, who served as Royal Governor of Chile between 1746 and 1755.[9]
