Barry Smyth ( Armagh, County Armagh) is an Irish former head chef and restaurant owner. He was the owner of the Michelin starred restaurant The Oriel in Gilford, County Down, Northern Ireland.[3] Smyth is nowadays working as a Lecturer at the catering department of the Southern Regional College in Newry.[4][5]
During his career Smyth worked in senior positions in several well-known restaurants, amongst others in Roscoff Restaurant (Belfast), and Kilkea Castle Hotel (Castledermot, County Kildare). He is best known for his own restaurant "The Oriel" where he earned Michelin stars in 2004 en 2005.[6]
In 2010 and 2011 Smyth acted as culinary director at the Belfast Taste & Music Fest.[7][8]
