Barbara Main is a biologist specialising in the study of spiders, and is based at the University of Western Australia.
Her research interests include the natural history and taxonomy of mygalomorph spiders.
She was married to Professor Bert Main from 1952 until his death in 2009.
Achievements, awards and recognition
Barbara Main was awarded the Order of Australia in the General Division for service to science and conservation as a researcher and educator in the field of arachnology (the study of spiders) and to the community of Western Australia.
Honorary Member, International Society of Arachnology.
