Barahachhetra is a Hindu pilgrimage sites in Sunsari District in the Kosi Zone of south-eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 8602 people living in 1695 individual households.[1] Among 4 chhetra in hindu mythology 2 falls in India and 2 in Nepal that is Kuruchhetra & Dharmachhetra in India and Barahachhetra & Muktichhetra in Nepal.

Lord Vishnu, by taking the incarnation of a boar (Baraha) protected the earth from being submerged into Patal (underworld) with his long tusk. Then the Lord sat with his wife Laxmi at the bank of Koshi River and the lap of Himalayas and hills. So, the place bore its name after that event. There is a big and beautiful image of the Baraha incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Kumba mela

In every 12 year kumbha mela is organizing since 2058 B.S. in chataradham . The second kumbha mela was held in 2070B.S. It is of One month. This time more than 6 lakhs people visited.
