Bang Namphueng Floating Market

Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market was built in 2004 in Thailand. It was a venture by the local Tambon administration, aimed at resolving an oversupply of agricultural products. A unique characteristic is that sellers are people in the community, with limits on the vendors and products sold there. The market is surrounded by a residential neighborhood and is located along a canal. Despite the market, boat traffic remained normal. Products include commercial crops such as fruits and sweets, fresh noodles, processed food, sea shells, dried shrimp, pickled shrimp products, dessert dishes, grain cakes, and fruit. The most popular fruit is mango.

Accessories and souvenirs, including flowers can also be bought. One Tambon One Products (OTOP) products are also sold here.

Location

Bang Namphueng Temple, Bang Namphueng, Phra Pradaeng, Samut Prakarn. A terrestrial market along the small canal branched from the Chao Phraya river.  Locating in Samut Prakan province, central Thailand which called "Pork stomach" (look like horseshoe) or area around the Chao Phraya river that curves around almost island. That non-toxic farming area amid the growth of the city the total area of 11,819 rais. The most importantly, this pork stomach is conservation of green space since 1977, this forest is a source of fresh air to people in Samut Prakan and Bangkok.

Most of shopping products are local material such as vegetation, souvenir, variety of food and dessert, fruits and vegetables from both garden and farm including rare herbs. Another interesting activity is arts and music, this place is located on the market that suitable for tourists to family. Children will enjoy painting plaster. Parents will enjoy the music and atmosphere or anyone who likes to ride a bike can rent a bicycle in front of the market for survey the culture and breathing fresh air.

How to get to Bang NamPheung floating market

- By bus: there are a few air-condition buses including Number 138 from Chatuchak to Phra Pradaeng, Number 140 from Victory Monument to Suk Sawat through the Expressway and Number 506 from Pak Kret to Phra Pradaeng. Otherwise, the non air-con bus is Number 82 from Sanam Luang to Phra Pradaeng. Note that you will still need to take local transportation to the floating market.

- By car: Take the Expressway and exit on the Dao Khanong-Suk Sawat to Suk Sawat Road, go straight until you see the Phra Pradaeng T-junction, turn left next to the BP Gas Station. After pass the Phra Pradaeng Market, turn left on Wat Song Tham Worawihan and keep going for another 5 kilometers. Take a turn into Soi Phetchahung 33 and you’ll see the Bang Namphueng Health Center which is a parking area of the market.
