Bae Ho

Bae Ho (Hangul: 배호, 1942–1971) was a South Korean singer[1] ranked as the number 8th all-time favorite singer in a KBS survey. A statue commemorating his biggest hit, "Doraganeun Samgakji" was erected in front of Samgakji Station in Seoul.[2]

Life and career

Bae was born in Shandong, China as the son of a Korean independence activist and returned to Korea with his family after the liberation. He debuted as a singer in 1963. He became a popular singer after the 1967 release of the song "Doraganeun Samgakji" (돌아가는 삼각지), which lead the charts for 5 consecutive months. He released more than 40 songs afterwards. In 1966 he fell ill with nephritis and spent his later years battling the disease. He died in 1971.[1]
