Baby Nansen (born 11 January 1987, Auckland, New Zealand) is a professional boxer and a retired kickboxer. Nansen's biggest fight of her career was against Melissa St. Vil for the vacant WBC Silver female super featherweight title on the Kali Reis vs. Maricela Cornejo undercard.[1] Despite losing the bout, she fought very well and received a WBC ranking of 39th. Nansen has fought on a King in the Ring undercard.

Vs Jennings

In 2016, Nansen was appointed as the number one contender for the New Zealand National (NZPBA Version) Super Featherweight Title, which was then held by Rebecca Jennings.[2] The two fought each other in May 2017 for the NZPBA title with the winner originally being Nansen by Split Decision. Shortly after the bout, Nansen's camp were approached by the officiating supervisor and it was revealed the scorecard calculations were added up incorrectly. Nansen was stripped of the title immediately and the result was changed to a draw from the right calculations.[3]

A few days after the bout, it was discovered that the Wellington regional supervisor of NZPBA was out of the country, attending the IBF world annual convention. Not only was the appointed supervisor pulled out at the last minute, a few other officials pulled out from officiating the event, hours before the night began. The promoter, Mark Hampton, a judge for NZPBA outside promoting, was appointed as commissioner and title supervisor of the bout. This led to more controversy as it was discovered that Hampton was not only the trainer, manager and promoter for Rebecca Jennings, but also was cornering Jennings while being the supervising official. Hampton had also appointed two kickboxing officials who are close friends to the promoter, to judge the title bout. Nansen's management officially submitted an appeal to NZPBA to revoke the decision or become mandatory for the title with immediate rematch within 90 days and to have a major investigation to happen on the incident.[4]
