BNS Sheikh Hasina is a new naval base being developed for the Bangladesh Navy. This will be the first full-fledged submarine base of Bangladesh Navy.[1][2]
History
Bangladesh Navy bought two Ming-class submarines (Type 035) from China on 2013.[3] China handed over the two submarines to the Bangladesh Navy on 14 November 2016.[4]
On 3 March 2017 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inducted the two submarines. She laid the foundation stone of a submarine base in Pekua in the coastal city of Cox’s Bazar.[5]
