BJP Yuva Morcha Karnataka is the Karnataka branch of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, a national party in India.
Activities
Yuva Morcha's responsibility is to motivate young people to be active in politics. The party is based on the philosophy of Integral humanism (India).
Yuva Morcha has been active in various activities across the state.
Building Gorata Martyrs memorial
During Hyderabad's accession to India, around 200 people were killed by Razakars in the tiny village of Gorta in Bidar district. BJYM Karnataka is building a memorial in remembrance of those who lost their lives.[1]
Protest against Rape incidents in Karnataka
In Karnataka, after incidents of rape were reported, BJP Yuva Morcha instigated statewide insistence on security for women.[2]
Padayatra demanding water in suburban districts of Bengaluru
Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, and Kolar are districts adjoining the city of Bengaluru. These are developing districts, which are projected to house future commercial areas. Unfortunately, the area suffers from an acute water shortage. BJP Yuva Morcha held a padayatra (walkathon) from Chikkaballapur to Bengaluru, demanding a permanent water solution for these areas. The walkathon gained popularity, and farmers voluntarily joined it, making for a crowd of around 6000 people. Unable to stand the fact of people participating in large numbers, the state government sabotaged the yatra by detaining its leaders.[3]
Yuva Chaitanya Yatra
Yuva Chaitanya Yatra (Youth Consciousness Walk), a campaign focused on clean living, was carried out with three goals in mind:
- Swachh Bharat Abhiyan ("Clean India Campaign", called by Shiri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India)
- Narcotics-free Karnataka
- Spreading the message of Swami Vivekananda amongst youth
The yatra travelled across 14 districts, covering 1153 kilometers in 7 days. [4]
Leadership
BJPYM Karnataka is currently headed by Pratap Simha, MP Mysore, who took over from Muniraju Gowda in May 2016. He is assisted by numerous other office-holders, including state vice-presidents, general secretaries, and cell conveners.[5]
