BBC Radio Gloucestershire is the BBC Local Radio service for the English county of Gloucestershire, which started on 3 October 1988. It broadcasts from its studios at Portland Court in London Road, Gloucester on DAB, 95 FM (Stroud), 95.8 FM (Cirencester), 104.7 FM (Gloucester, Cheltenham & Tewkesbury), 1413 AM in the Cotswolds & Forest of Dean.

Transmitters

The station broadcasts on DAB, FM, AM and Freeview.

The DAB transmitters for the multiplex that serves the Gloucestershire audience are located at Churchdown Hill (for the Severn Vale, including the Cheltenham/Gloucester conurbation), Stockend Wood (for south of Gloucester, parts of Stroud Valleys and shores of River Severn), Icomb Hill, near Bourton-on-the-Water (for the north Cotswolds) and Cirencester (for the south Cotswolds). The station commenced broadcasting on DAB digital radio on 18 October 2013 as part of the Gloucestershire local multiplex.[1]

The main FM transmitter is at Churchdown Hill near to jct 11 on the M5 which broadcasts on 104.7 FM. The FM output is relayed from the Stroud transmitter on 95 FM and from the Cirencester transmitter on 95.8 FM.

There are two MW transmitters, both on 1413 kHz, at Stow-on-the-Wold and at Berkeley Heath. The station's AM output is relayed on Freeview and online.

Radio Gloucestershire is available on Freeview channel 735. Viewers in Gloucestershire who see BBC Points West, BBC Midlands Today or BBC South Today (Oxford) at 1830 (Mon-Fri) receive this audio feed.

Programming

The majority of the station's programming is produced and broadcast from the Gloucester studios. During off-peak hours, BBC Radio Gloucestershire also carries regional programming for the West and the South West, including its own output on Sundays. As with all BBC Local Radio stations, it also airs the networked weekday evening shows, originating from BBC Radio Leeds and produced independently by Wire Free Productions.

The station's presenters include Mark Cummings, Dan Chisholm, Anna King, Dominic Cotter and Steve Kitchen.

During the station's downtime, BBC Radio Gloucestershire simulcasts BBC Radio 5 Live overnight.
