B.S. Pradeep Varma (born 7 July 1981) is an Indian Kannada film director,[1] lyricist, and screenwriter.[2] He is most predominantly known for the 2017 film Urvi. The first ever Kannada film to get officially nominated in the top 6 best feature film at LAFA (Los Angeles Film Awards).[3] He is also known for his short film called Chakori which opened up to be critically acclaimed bagging a special jury award at Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival Noida and a finalist at filmskillet international film festival Santa Barbara.[4]
Early life
B.S. Pradeep Varma was born on 7 July 1981, in Bangalore, in the Bangalore district of the Karnataka. He is the youngest son of world acclaimed artist B. K. S. Varma and Shantha Varma's three children. Studied at Jana seva vidya kendra an RSS based school and later on did his initial academics on art at Kalamandir school of arts and completed his degree in fine arts at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat. Initial desire of becoming an art director made him join as an assistant director to a national award-winning director Sri T.S. Nagabharana in 2007.
